The Ignatian Journey - Group
A Contemporary Group Approach to the Ignatian Exercises
The more traditional approach to this 32 week journey is for the retreatants to pray daily on their own and then meet one-on-one with a Spiritual Director every week. The Spiritual Director serves as a guide for the journey and is central to the Exercises offered in this format. We are offering a cohort model that incorporates the wisdom of this traditional model with another proven adaption that features a small group dynamic. Retreatants will still pray daily on their own and may meet one-on-one with a Spiritual Director, as the need arises. However, they will have the opportunity to gather with other retreatants through retreats and other small group gatherings. This co-ed cohort will be for Spiritual Directors, spiritual formation leaders, or those committed to a 32-week journey in community praying through the Exercises. Each week of material from “The Ignatian Journey: A Contemporary Approach to the Ignatian Exercises” (www.theignatianjourney.com) will accompany the themes presented in The Ignatian Adventure: Experiencing the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius in Daily Life by Kevin O’Brien, SJ. Taking into account different learning styles and spiritual pathways, “The Ignatian Journey” offers additional weekly content, prayers, poems, readings, videos, and art, specifically curated to enhance the experience of the exercises. The weekly content will be available online and in a 6-volume hard copy, included in the cost of the cohort.
